Later, the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of Oaxaca confirmed the murder and reported that the investigations are carried out with a gender perspective. Preliminarily, two possible lines of investigation were established: one related to a personal vendetta and another with an alleged financial debt.
For its part, the San Juan Cacahuatepec City Council condemned Guadalupe Urban’s crime and highlighted her work as a public servant committed to the causes of her community and to the strengthening of democratic life in the municipality.
Through a statement, local authorities demanded a serious and prompt investigation, as well as the arrest of those responsible. They pointed out that impunity cannot be tolerated and that the municipality rejects any act of violence that affects families and communities in the region.

According to residents of the area, the councilor was heading to an official event called Days for Peace, which would be attended by children and officials from the state and federal governments. Guadalupe Urban was the head of the Parks and Gardens council by proportional representation for the period 2025-2027.
