MEXICO CITY, November 15, 2025 (AP).— Thousands of Mexicans protested today Saturday in Mexico City against the government of Claudia Sheinbaum in a demonstration originally called by the Generation Z but that, finally, encouraged opposition parties and ended by gather more government critics than young people.
cries of “Morena out!” —the ruling party—, “State, corrupt, because of you I am in mourning” or “Narcopresident” were heard among the protesters of different profiles and origins, who did not wear any party insignia, but were united by their discontent against the presidency of Claudia Sheinbaum Pardoin power for just over a year.
Claudia Cruza 30-year-old lawyer, said she was marching for a better country. Fidel Sandovala 78-year-old retired teacher, for the lack of justice.
The internist doctor Arizbeth Garciaa, 43, demonstrated in his white coat in the shortcomings in the public health system and “because we also expose ourselves to insecurity what happens in the country, where someone can kill you and nothing happens”.
Some young people were reluctant to talk to the media and did not know how to explain why they were demonstrating.
Clashes with rockets, stones and tear gas

The march passed mostly peacefulalthough in the end some young people with their faces covered knocked down the fences that the authorities placed to protect parts of the Plinth —the main square of the country— and there was clashes with the police in which some rockets, stones and tear gas were thrown.
Violence wherever it comes from is unjustifiable and unacceptable. The attacks by the supposed protesters are brutal.

During the protest, which was repeated on a smaller scale in other cities in the country, there were flags of Mexico and also whites to ask for justice for the popular Carlos Manzo Rodríguez mayor of UruapanMichoacan, murdered on Saturday, November 1a crime still unsolved.
Many people wore straw hats symbolizing the Hat Movementopposition group that the extinct Carlos Manzo founded, and a handful of protesters were on horseback.
Manzo’s murder “was the death of the State”he stated Rosa María Ávilaa 65-year-old real estate advisor, who arrived in the Mexican capital from PatzcuaroMichoacan.
“They killed him because it was not convenient for thembecause he was a man who went into the mountains to take down criminals. The only one who had the guts to say enough is enough,” he added. Rosa Ávilawho said he supported the controversial security policies of the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukelehighly denounced because, allegedly, they entail human rights violations.
Generation Z is separated

Government perspective on the progress of 15N
The government of Claudia Sheinbaum reported that it was a call manipulated and orchestrated from the international right and through the use of bots.
Throughout march there were also some black banners with smiling skull with straw hat and crossbones coming from a Japanese manga series called “One Piece”, the emblem Generation Z.
However, those young people in their twenties and digital natives who lead a global wave of generational discontent united in the fed up with the political class or inequalitieswere not the majority.
One of them, Andres Massa 29-year-old business consultant, said he liked that they took the message of fighting against corrupt governments promoted by the “One Piece” pirates.
“I am in favor of that there is a little more securitythat there is a little more awareness for everyone”, he assured with his black flag on his shoulder.
Generation Z protests
The protests of the Generation Z caused the resignation of the government of Nepal and were replicated in Asian and African countries with different triggers.

However, the country’s structural problems, such as insecurity, corruption and impunity remain, and recent events of violencelike those that occurred in Michoacán, have encouraged the discontent.
Among the most recent protests with widespread participation were those last year that attempted to stop the reform of the Judiciary for fear that the administration of justice would be politicized, and feminist groups or human rights movements who demand justice for more than 130,000 missing from the country.
