Formula 1 now heads to Las Vegas for the third running of the Las Vegas Grand Prix and round 22 of the 2025 season.
Norris described the track conditions as challenging due to low grip, wheel spin and difficulty in managing braking. The result places him in a strong position for Saturday’s race as he moves closer to his first World Drivers’ Championship title. Norris previously retired from the 2023 race after a crash and finished sixth in 2024 at the Las Vegas Strip Circuit.
Williams’ Carlos Sainz will start third on the grid after another strong performance at the venue, having qualified second in 2023 and 2024. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, second in the current standings, will begin from fifth after going off track during his final lap.
Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton will start last after being eliminated in Q1 with a P20 result. Hamilton abandoned his final lap following a miscommunication over whether his time was secure and said yellow flags and lack of grip would likely have prevented improvement. The result marks the first time in his 19-season Formula 1 career that he has qualified last on pure pace.
