Mexico City, November 3 (However).- The Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrardshared yesterday his assessment of the Summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APECfor its acronym in English) in South Koreain which he reported that Mexico It will be the next headquarters of the forum in 2028.
“I think it was a successful meeting for Mexico and we also take the 2028 headquarters to Mexico. Mexico It will be the headquarters after many years that we had not had that possibility and this will allow us to be a bridge between the Americas y Asia. We are all Pacific Rim in 2028 in Mexico“said the official in a video shared on his official X account.
Ebrard said that he was able to hold positive conversations with several world leaders and described the meeting as “successful”, in which he was able to advance on many different topics.

“I was able to greet the leaders of many countries, such as those with whom we have a very good relationship. I was able to greet the leader, the President of China, Xi Jinping; of course the Prime Minister of Canada; the ministers of Korea; and many countries with which we have an important relationship in commercial matters,” he added.
Ebrard revealed that he was able to hold positive conversations with the United States (EU), in which progress was made to improve diplomatic relations.
“You can greet the Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent, briefly. We had a good conversation about how we are going to move forward in the coming weeks. I also had a working meeting with Jamieson Greer, the Ambassador, we will most likely meet in Washington. So that we do not have, when we begin the review of the treaty, differences at the table that could distract us,” the Secretary stressed.

In turn, he emphasized the importance of the fact that the participating countries have voted for Mexico to be the next venue for the Summit in 2028.
“The fact that they have voted in favor of Mexico hosting 2028 speaks of the importance they give to our country, of what meaning they have for their economies. They are all interested with different nuances. Some in opening better relations, such as Indonesia, with whom we have a flow of around three billion dollars; others in maintaining dialogue and communication, such as China, with whom we have a gigantic trade,” commented the official.
Marcelo Ebrard indicated that he held talks with other world leaders, such as “Canada, which wants to implement new actions to increase our mutual trade flow, or Japan or Korea that want to expand their presence in our country,” he added.

Finally, the Secretary of Economy referred to the positive image that many foreign leaders have of President Claudia Sheinbaum and the work she is doing to have a good relationship with the United States, as well as the successes that the president has achieved with the Mexico Plan to attract foreign investments. “It has a lot of recognition and that is why we are going to host APEC 2028, among other things,” he concluded.
