MEXICO CITY.- The Judicial Police (PJ) and the Portuguese Navywith the collaboration of the United Kingdom and the United States, intercepted in the last days in the Atlantic Ocean a narco submarine that transported more than 1.7 tons of cocaine destined for the Iberian Peninsula, the PJ reported this Monday in a statement.
Four crew members were in the semi-submersible along with the drugs, whose final destination was several countries on the European continentdetailed the Portuguese authorities, who did not specify where the boat came from.
In the operation, named “The Golden“The Portuguese Air Force also participated, as well as the National Crime Agency (NCA) on the British side and the anti-drug agency DEA and the Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATF South) on the United States side.”
The proceedings occurred thanks to the information provided by the Maritime Analysis and Operations Center on Drug Trafficking (MAOC-N), based in Lisbon and made up of eight EU member states – Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Portugal – to cooperate in the anti-drug fight by sea and air.
