“I also tell the people of the United States: humanity is already suffering enough pain with the genocide in Gaza, there is no longer a people in the world that does not classify what is happening in Gaza as a genocide (…). Do we want another Gaza now in South America? What do the people of the United States say?”, expressed the president during the meeting of Jurists in Defense of International Law.

“The vast majority of the American people do not want war in the world and even less do they want a war in America,” added Nicolás Maduro, who also recalled that the Americans “came out very badly” from Afghanistan, and also recalled other cases of invasions perpetrated by the US, in addition to warning that the aggressions of said country are “against all of America” and “against all of humanity.”

“Do you want a new Afghanistan? Do you want Vietnam again? Do you want Libya again? Or what is worse, do you want a new Gaza in South America? Let me tell you no, no and no! And that here peace, international law will triumph and our people will know how to gain their stability, their right to existence with full sovereignty,” concluded the Venezuelan President.

For his part, President Donald Trump has made “more or less” a decision regarding Venezuela. The president’s statements also occurred on Friday when he was questioned by journalists aboard Air Force One, in the context of the largest US military deployment in this region of Latin America in the last three decades.

“I more or less made up my mind. I can’t tell you which one it will be. [esa decisión]”said the tenant of the White House.

Since August 2025, the United States Government has carried out a military deployment off the coast of Venezuela consisting of warships, submarines, combat aircraft and troops. The Trump administration not only justified these actions as part of the fight against drug trafficking but also accused Nicolás Maduro of being linked to these organizations, and increased the reward for information leading to the president’s arrest to $50 million.

In this sense, the Department of War (formerly the Department of Defense), whose name was changed by the Donald Trump Government in September 2025, has reported on different attacks in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean against boats that were supposedly transporting drugs, but said entity has not presented evidence of its claims. The operations have so far left at least 70 people dead.
