Erika Kirk, the widow of American conservative political activist Charlie Kirk, has opened up about seeing her husband in the hospital immediately after he was shot. In an interview with Fox News, Erika said her husband “had this smirk on his face” that she felt carried a message. This comes nearly two months after Charlie’s assassination during the first stop of his American Comeback Tour in Orem, Utah at a college event, an event that stunned the US.

Erika opened up about the surreal moments following the shooting. In an interview with Fox News’ Jesse Watters that will air in full on Wednesday evening, Erika grew emotional as she described what her husband looked like while lying in the hospital.

“I never saw the video, I never will see it,” she revealed to Fox News. “I never want to see it, there are certain things you see in your life that you can never unsee. There are certain things you see in your life that mark your soul forever. I don’t want my husband’s public assassination to be something I ever see. I don’t want my kids to ever see that.”


“When we walked into that room … he had this smirk on his face,” Erika said, dabbing tears from her eyes. “That smirk, that smirk to me is that look of, ‘You thought you could stop what I’ve built. You thought you could end this vision, this movement, this revival. You thought you could do that by murdering me. You got my body; you didn’t get my soul.’ “The night before Charlie was assassinated, Erika and her daughter slept in the couple’s bed. Charlie slept in their daughter’s bedroom. She claimed she wanted him to get a “good night’s sleep” before his speaking engagement the next day. “That night, he [Charlie] was so excited. I mean, he was like I can’t wait, it’s going to be the best,” Erika Kirk said.
