Cleaning workers demand joining a union by requesting a “digit”; administrative procedure to begin the affiliation procedure and which has been hindered by the authorities, according to the dissidents.
Mexico City, December 12 (However).- Workers cleaning the Mexico City (CdMx) they organized a protest this Friday at General Directorate of Personnel Administration and Administrative Developmentin the Cuauhtémoc Mayor’s Officeto demand a union membership; The demonstration ended with garbage burning outside these offices.
The protesters arrived around 6:00 a.m. at the station aboard the garbage collection trucks and were located on Fray Servando Teresa de Mier Avenuebetween Central Axis e Isabella the Catholicwhere the institution is located.
A few minutes later, protesters emptied garbage bags onto the sidewalks and streets and then set the waste on fire, protesting the authorities’ lack of attention to their requests to be incorporated into a union.

The action caused the authorities to completely close the road and divert drivers to alternate streets to prevent the situation from getting complicated since, according to official reports, the burning caused damage in the vicinity of the institution.
The act not only caused a dense column of smoke that spread quickly throughout the surrounding area, but also the mobilization of police, firefighters and civil protection personnel to prevent the flames from reaching nearby vehicles or buildings.
The protesters assured that the administrative authorities have hindered their request for what they call a digit, that is, an administrative procedure to be able to join the union body.

The Road Orientation Center of the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City (OVIAL) reported through its social networks that the streets remained closed around 9:00 a.m.
The cleaning workers left the place after several hours of protest, leaving the garbage lying in Fray Servando Teresa de Mier waiting for capital government personnel to remove the waste.
