Yucatecan driver Carlos Novelo seeks to bring Nascar Trucks to the Yucatán Autodrome
Los dreams were made to come true and overcoming obstacles will always be one of the reasons for existence.
This is the case of Carlos Novelo Fleetwho has just concluded a season that was rich and productive in motorsports in Mexico. But, he says yucatecan pilot“what I have experienced throughout the year motivates me to go for more,” in the three competitions in which he participated:
The Super Cup 2025in which he was national runner-up; the Nascar Serie Trucks, category in which he finished among the four best, classifying the final playoff, and “The 24 hours of Mexico City”where he raced with the winning team in his division.
In every test he travels to around the country, he always gets a question from his colleagues and car professionals, especially in Nascar Trucks: And when to run in Yucatán?
Carlos Novelo’s dream: Nascar in Yucatán
Novelo Fleet, part of the Telmex Team in that specialty, he believes that “that would be a dream: to compete in Nascar at the Yucatan Autodrome, May the category come with all its great show to our land.”
Novelo Flota, 21 years old, had a season that was about to end in a real big way.
In it “Emerson Fittipaldi” from Paraíso, Progreso, made history by climbing to the top of the podium winning the GTM Light category in the Super Cup last February, which was what, emotionally, helped him get angry and keep a calendar of very high levels.
“That was one of the great moments of our season, winning at the Autódromo Yucatán, at your home, surrounded by people who know you. And I always say it: it is one of the best, if not the best, of all the tracks in Mexico, after ‘Hermanos Rodríguez’, and perhaps Puebla… The drivers who know this track say it: ‘it is the best’”.
He insists that “It’s a good idea, I hope it comes to fruition soon when the Nascar Trucks a Yucatán”.
However, something is also clear: that if this category makes a stage at the “Fittipaldi”, he has to be in a position to win to encourage fans to attend Paraíso.
“That is clear to me: this year’s season was very good, intense, hard-fought, I was able to win the championship, but a crash prevented me from finishing the race,” said the driver. “How do I do now? Keep working hard. I want to show Yucatán that they have a pilot and that their possibilities are real, not a filler competitor. My dream is intact: I want to compete in the Nascar Cup in the United States, and the only way I will get there will be by giving my all in every race in Mexico”.
The Nascar Series, a large national circus, plays the Nascar Mexico and Nascar Challenge categories, which are for cars, and the Trucks.
“It is important to mention that Nascar goes with everythingtheir protocols are the same as races in the United States, they have attractive categories and are very popular. It would be a very big event in which they would see very outstanding pilots“, said.
“And we have a stage that is worthy of the best competitions. Javier Montero Azuara and his family have a great racetrack. It’s not just me who says it, all the pilots say it. For me, it would be a dream to race Nascar here”.
Carlos Novelo entered the Trucks playoffs as the third best driver in a group of four that fought for the national championship, with Gerardo Rodríguez, Mateo Girón and Everardo Fonseca.

And in the last stage, in Amozoc, Puebla, he was fighting for first place when he had the mishap that left him out of competition, and he placed fourth nationally.
In the Super Cup, he won the runner-up position in an almost photographic finish in the Monterrey Autodrome.
