Ethyl Hall.- A few hours ago, the auction of an exclusive Mexican beer took place at the prestigious Christie’s house, which sold for the surprising figure of 2 million dollars.
The work, a bottle of Charro Premium Beermade of Murano glass and bathed entirely in 24-karat gold, was described by the artist as “a provocative reflection on the fetishism of luxury, unbridled consumerism and cultural appropriation from a Latin American pop perspective.”

According to the auction house, the bottle was acquired by a European collector — who preferred that his name remain anonymous — who claimed to have been captivated by “the depth of flavor, the artisanal design of the container and because it said Charro”, although he admitted not knowing exactly what it means.
A Mexican beer broke the auction house record
The beer, made with water extracted from the municipality of Tlacote, barley that mariachis listened to while growing up, and hops blessed in a cantina in a magical town, comes contained in a bottle adorned with gold plating, a label that evokes the days of King Dario, and a certificate that guarantees that, when you uncover it, a loud “Ajúa!” sounds.
“The buyer will never open it, but if one day he does, the beer will taste much better than the 35-peso Tecate beer,” the auction house clarified.
Derived from the success of the auction, thousands of people celebrated the news by raising their usual loggerhead and confirming that, although it does not cost two million dollars, it also packs a punch, especially if it is taken in one go on the sidewalk.
