HERMOSILLO.- Governor Alfonso Durazo reported that at the moment no effects reported in Sonora after the earthquake in the Gulf of California of magnitude 5.7 degrees, 71 kilometers from Santa Rosalía, Baja California, perceived slightly in Guaymas.
The strongest earthquake was reported to have occurred at 5:04 a.m. this Friday, November 7. The National Seismological Service reported that in the last few hours it has recorded other less intense earthquakes in that area.
The movement originated in a depth of 10 kilometerslocated at the coordinates 27.97° north latitude y -112.49° west longitude.
According to reports, the tremor was felt in Sonoran towns such as Guaymas, Empalme, Miguel Alemán (La Doce), Bahía de Kino and Hermosillo.

No damage due to earthquake in Sonora
The State Coordination of Civil Protection (CEPC) reported that reviews are being carried out in coastal communities and so far there are no effects from earthquakes in the Gulf of California, also known as the Sea of Cortez.
The mayor of Guaymas, Karla Córdova Gonzálezsaid that she is meeting with officials of the municipal administration, including Civil Protection, Urban Infrastructure, City Council Secretariat and Audit Office, to evaluate possible effects caused by the earthquakes registered since yesterday and during the early hours of today.
“Our priority is to guarantee the safety of Guaymense families and maintain permanent vigilance in the event of any eventuality,” he said.
We will be reporting any relevant situation in a timely manner, he said. For his part, the mayor of Hermosillo, Antonio Astiazaránconfirmed that, so far, there are no reports of damages, due to the earthquake that occurred this morning near Santa Rosalía and that was felt in the state capital.
“We remain attentive and in communication with all authorities,” he added. Civil Protection of the state continues with preventive tours in communities such as Bahía de Kino, Miguel Alemán Police Station as well as in Guaymas and Empalme.
