Ariadna Montiel assured that the resources for the Welfare Programs are guaranteed because the current administration governs with honesty and republican austerity.
Mexico City, November 26 (However).- The Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel Reyesstated that the social policy of the current government has been consolidated as the axis of the Fourth Transformation (4T)which has allowed 13.5 million of people come out of poverty and inequality will decrease in recent years.
When appearing before the plenary session of the Senate as part of the Gloss of the First Government Report, the official explained that currently 32 million people receive some Welfare Program, which represents an annual social investment of 850 billion pesos.
Montiel maintained that these resources are guaranteed thanks to the “government with honesty and republican austerity,” which has allowed us to expand rights and maintain direct support for families as a priority.
Montiel Reyes pointed out that between 2018 and 2024 the income of the poorest households grew 35 percent, while that of the richest households increased 4 percent. He attributed these results to a “successful formula” based on three pillars: welfare policy, historic salary improvement and public investment that creates jobs.

Since 2019, he specified, the accumulated social investment exceeds 4.5 trillion pesos.
In the context of the so-called “second floor” of the Fourth Transformation, he highlighted that the federal government has expanded programs with a gender focus. Among them, the new Women’s Wellbeing Pension, aimed at women between 60 and 64 years old, which already serves three million beneficiaries with an investment of 23,662 million pesos.
The Secretary reported that the Casa por Casa Salud program, which operates with an investment of 4,757 million pesos, includes 20,000 health workers who travel the country offering free consultations. Until now, 8.6 million older adults and people with disabilities already have a medical history.
The Pension for the Well-being of the Elderly serves 13.3 million beneficiaries who receive 6,200 pesos every two months, with an investment of 484,483 million pesos. Meanwhile, the Pension for People with Disabilities reaches more than 1.6 million beneficiaries, universalized in 24 states.
Other programs mentioned were the support of 6,400 pesos every two months for girls and boys with cancer without social security; the Working Mothers Program, with 256 thousand beneficiaries; and Sembrando Vida, which benefits 409 thousand planters with a monthly wage of 6,450 pesos.
Montiel stressed that Mexico today has “the largest scholarship system in history”:
- 5.6 million high school students and 3 million primary school students receive the Rita Cetina scholarship.
- 4 million young people in high school access the Benito Juárez scholarship.
- 409 thousand university students participate in Young People Writing the Future.


In addition, the La Escuela Es Nuestra program has intervened in 63,000 basic education schools and more than 6,000 high school schools, while Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro trained 450,000 young people this year, with an investment of 24 billion pesos.
During the appearance, the Secretary reported that 192 thousand fishermen accessed Bienpesca; 2 million small producers received free fertilizers and Production for Wellbeing resources.
Likewise, he announced the creation of FAISPIAM, a fund for social infrastructure for indigenous and Afro-Mexican peoples and communities, through which 20 thousand communities received more than 12.3 billion pesos.
By 2025 – a year designated as the Year of Indigenous Women – the right of women to manage community resources will be recognized. A census of agricultural laborers is also carried out in San Quintín, Baja California, and energy justice is promoted in the Purépecha region with efficient wood stoves.
The official also mentioned the support for 320 thousand people affected by natural disasters in Guerrero, Oaxaca, State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí and Veracruz.
On the border, under the México Abraza Te strategy, almost 80 thousand cards from the Bienestar Paisano program have been delivered to repatriated people and the Welfare Centers are strengthened with an investment of 700 million pesos.
Montiel closed his intervention by stating that Mexican Humanism will continue to guide social policy: “Shared prosperity, substantive equality. This is how you govern when you command by obeying,” he said.
