Press reports revealed the nature of the injury suffered by Yazan Al-Naimat, the striker of the Qatari Al-Arabi team, with his country, Jordan, against Iraq in the quarter-finals of the Arab Football Cup.
Al-Naimat, 26 years old, suffered a knee injury during the first minutes of the Jordan-Iraq match, in which the former won 1-0 to qualify for the semi-finals, while the player left in the 13th minute due to his injury. The Jordanian Federation did not reveal the nature of the injury.
The Jordanian newspaper Al-Rai said that the player is suffering from a knee cartilage injury, but in-depth examinations that the player will conduct later will show whether it is serious or not.
Moroccan Jamal Salami, the Jordanian national team coach, expressed his concern about the injury of his prominent star in the national team’s attack, before a strong confrontation awaits the Jordanian team against Saudi Arabia in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Al-Naimat’s name has been linked, through several Arab press reports, to a move to Al-Ahly of Egypt next January, especially in light of the latter’s efforts to sign a new striker.
