The deterioration of public life in Mexico finds a clear face in the federal representative of the PT, Wblester Santiago Pineda. His name once again made headlines after a video circulated in which, from inside a white van, he insults and threatens state police officers during a routine inspection.
The recording shows how, when faced with a simple request for dialogue from the agents, the legislator responds with “why are you recording me, wow?” followed by a direct insult: “son of your fucking mother.” After the verbal attack, he accelerates and leaves the scene without any immediate consequences.
This behavior, far from being exceptional, adds to a chain of incidents that reveal a style of exercising power based on intimidation and impunity. Just a few days ago, the same deputy was caught drunk inside a shopping center in Metepec, where he caused damage and attacked private security personnel.
On that occasion, he boasted of his federal investiture to intimidate those who were trying to control the situation, causing damage valued at hundreds of thousands of pesos.
What happened now confirms a pattern that worries specialists and citizens alike: a popular representative who, far from acting in accordance with the law, uses it as a letter of immunity. The attitude of the legislator, despising police officers who are doing their job, insulting them without provocation and leaving with absolute impunity, exhibits a level of arrogance inappropriate for an elected official.
He PTthe party that nominated him and from which some type of demarcation is expected, has remained silent. No leader has forcefully condemned the events, fueling the perception that they will protect the legislator despite the reputational damage it generates.
Although the Prosecutor’s Office opened a file for the destruction committed in Metepec, To date, there is no clear statement on the most recent grievances. Citizens resent it as an unequivocal message: justice is not applied with the same rigor for everyone.
