Officially, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (CRT) announced the date for the start of the registration of telephone lines in Mexico. This after several rumors that alerted the population of a possible massive suspension of telephone lines.

Through a statement released on December 8, the organization detailed that all mobile telephone lines must be associated with a natural or legal person. They pointed out that the information will be protected by cell phone companies.
In order to make this registration, certain guidelines were established for both natural and legal persons. Each of these regimes They must present certain documents to prove their identity.
“With these Guidelines, the CRT fulfills its mandate to focus its regulatory efforts on benefiting people. After actively listening to the telecommunications industry and incorporate the results of the Public Consultation“, detailed the organization.

According to the CRT, the registration of telephone lines will officially start from January 9, 2026. Each line of each telephone company will now have a physical or legal user registered to give it an identity.

These are the documents that each regime needs to carry out registration:
Natural persons:
- An official identification (voter ID or passport)
Legal entities:
- Federal Taxpayer Registry (RFC) and official identification (voter ID or passport)
