Former Brazilian player Dani Alves completely changed his life after spending several months in prison on a serious charge of sexually assaulting a young woman in a Barcelona nightclub in December 2022.
The former Barcelona and Brazilian national team defender spent one year in prison, then the Catalan Supreme Court acquitted him last March due to the lack of conclusive evidence of the incident, and he paid a bail of one million euros.
The case received widespread media coverage due to his initially being sentenced to more than 4 years in prison.
After withdrawing from public life in recent months, 42-year-old Alves suddenly reappeared on social media platforms with a completely different lifestyle, far removed from the media and professional football.
Several videos circulated on social media showing him giving sermons in a church in Girona, specifically the Elim Girona Church. During his speech, he can be heard saying phrases such as: “You have to have faith; I am proof of that. Because what God promises, He delivers.”
One TikTok user, who was able to record the Brazilian’s words during one of his visits to this evangelical church, wrote: “The faith that changes. Dani Alves, from a football player to a preacher. Glory be to God alone.”
This is the heartfelt speech made by ex-Barça footballer Dani Alves during a ceremony at the Elim Girona evangelist church. In fact, he has assured that he made “a pact with God” and that “you have to have faith, I am the proof of that”. The ex-player claims that the pact with God goes… pic.twitter.com/iXAuhyAnHx

The video also showed Alves telling the audience, “We take the things of God seriously and have faith.” He adds: “In the midst of turmoil, in the midst of the storm, there is always a messenger from God. This messenger, in the worst moments of my life, carried me to church, to my journey. Today I am on my journey thanks to him.”
The Brazilian full-back went through many stages throughout his life full of achievements, as he jumped from the “Bahia” team. He joined European football, specifically with the Spanish club Sevilla, and was one of the best players in his position.
After proving himself in Barcelona, the player continued his career in Italian Juventus, French Paris Saint-Germain, and finally in Mexican club Pumas.
Alves was the record holder for the most titles won in the history of football (43 titles) until Lionel Messi snatched this honor from him, and he was alone in the lead with 44 titles.
