TEL AVIV / GAZA / LONDON (IT BOLTWISE) – Recent violent clashes in the Gaza Strip have resulted in at least 18 deaths. The recent violent incidents in the Gaza Strip have once again highlighted the fragile situation in the region. At least 18 Palestinians have died in attacks attributed to both Israeli and Palestinian actions. The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported an airstrike on a vehicle in the city of Gaza that left five people dead. Videos of a burned-out car with bodies visible next to it circulated on social media.

A Saudi television station reported that a commander of the Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing, was killed in the attack. His son is also said to have died, but there was no official confirmation from Hamas. Further deaths occurred in the Nuseirat refugee district and in Deir al-Balah, where a total of five people, including two minors, died in attacks.

The Israeli army said the attacks were in response to an armed attack on Israeli soldiers in the southern Gaza Strip. A terrorist crossed the ceasefire line and shot at soldiers, whereupon he was “eliminated”. In addition, five terrorists who escaped from an underground tunnel were killed in Rafah. In further incidents in northern Gaza, four terrorists were identified, two of whom were killed.

Since the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas began on October 10, there have been repeated violent clashes. More than 300 Palestinians have been killed so far, according to the Hamas-controlled health authority. The Gaza war, triggered by a Hamas massacre in Israel on October 7, 2023, has already claimed almost 70,000 lives. Hamas accuses Israel of moving the so-called “yellow line” in the Gaza Strip further west, which is further inflaming tensions.
