Mexico City.- The deputy Judith Vanegas He clarified that at no time did he threaten or criminalize the lawyer Carlos González Garcíaduring the working meeting on October 30 between local legislators and officials of the Institute for Democratic and Prospective Planning. “My priority has always been to support the decisions of the indigenous peoples and address their demands with respect and dialogue,” he stressed.
Vanegas Tapiarepresentative of District 7 of Milpa Alta, explained that the meeting took place in the context of the consultation for the preparation of the General Development Plan of Mexico City, a fundamental tool – he said – to guarantee social rights such as education, health, housing, culture, work and social security.
“Mexico City has a historical debt with Milpa Alta and its inhabitants in terms of development. We Milpa residents have the right to basic services, adequate mobility and a better quality of life,” said the legislator, who assured that her work is aimed at reconciling interests when legitimate differences arise between communities.
He categorically rejected any accusation of intimidating behavior and reiterated his respect for the lawyer Gonzalez and all the representatives of the indigenous peoples. “I will always be in favor of consultation and community participation. I have been and will continue to be an ally of their causes and traditions,” she stated.
As president of the Rural Development, Food Supply and Distribution Commission of the capital Congress, Vanegas promotes policies to strengthen agricultural activities, promote local products and improve living conditions in rural areas. “We feel identified with the causes and demands of the native peoples; their well-being is our priority,” he concluded.
