At a press conference at the White House about reducing the prices of common weight-loss drugs, cameras caught Trump feeling drowsy. The Washington Post reported that the president spent nearly 20 minutes trying to keep his eyes open during the event.
Democrats did not miss the moment of Trump’s nap, most notably California Governor Gavin Newsom, who is known for his sharp criticism of the Republican president, as he tweeted sarcastically: “Sleepy Trump is back again.”
Knowing that Trump had previously called Biden “Sleepy Joe,” he once said, “I am the most youthful. I am still a young man, full of energy and energy. When I look at Joe (Biden), I don’t know.”
Earlier, Trump (79 years old) said that he sleeps only 3 or 4 hours a day, while people his age need 7 or 8 hours of sleep a day.
Trump’s nap during a press conference sparked a wave of comments, some mixed with sarcasm. Some of them were monitored by an episode (11/9/2025) of the “Shabakat” program.
Wael tweeted about Trump’s criticism of others, saying:
Working long hours affects any person, whether Trump or Biden, but Trump only looks at the mistakes of others and never sees himself as wrong.
Rahma does not see any harm in Trump’s nap, saying:
“It is normal if Trump suffers from fatigue… You feel that he is working 24 hours a day and does not stop… But Biden was falling asleep, stumbling and stuttering every now and then… Trump is still maintaining his fitness.”
In his comment, Lewis believes that Trump embarrassed himself, and says:
Don Sleepy takes a short nap during a meeting. As for his team, he boasts that he never sleeps, but if he stopped his false nightly posts on social media and took a rest, he would not embarrass himself in front of everyone.
As for Ali, he is skeptical about the pictures, as he tweeted:
“Pictures may not be 100% accurate… Quick shots in photography may show a person with their eyes closed.”
According to White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers, the president was not asleep. He spoke the entire time and answered many journalists’ questions during this announcement, which represents a historic drop in the prices of two medications that help patients with diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and other diseases.
