A 65-year-old man died after slipping from a cliff and falling 40 meters into the Grand Canyon, one of the most famous tourist attractions in the US state of Arizona.
According to authorities, who did not disclose the name of the victim, the accident occurred on Thursday, November 6, in an area known as Guano Point.
The rescue teams were called by members of the Hualapai police, the indigenous people who inhabit that reservation, but when rescuers arrived at the scene the man was already dead, after falling from the cliff, which corresponds to a 13-story building.
In a statement, local authorities reveal that rescue teams located the victim “about 40 meters deep in the middle of a pile of rocks.” The operation aimed only to “rescue the body and send it to the Mohave County District Medical Examiner’s Office.”
This is the second fatal accident in the Grand Canyon in two months, as in September a 27-year-old man, who was in his car, fell 90 meters down another cliff.
