After several days with “moderate” air quality at dawn, this morning the Mexico City Atmospheric Monitoring Directorate reported it as “good” at its 6:00 a.m. cutoff.
All monitoring stations appear green, and the health risk from airborne contaminants is low.
Keeping pollution levels stable is possible with the participation of everyone, and to do so it is essential to comply with the provisions of the program Today It Doesn’t Circulate, which applies as follows this Thursday:
• Vehicles with green stickers
• Termination of plates 1 and 2
• Hologram 1 or 2
Emergency vehicles, public transportation, electric or hybrid cars with a 0 or 00 hologram, motorcycles and cars with license plates for people with disabilities are exempt.
The Hoy No Circula program is applied from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in all municipalities of Mexico City and in 18 municipalities of the State of Mexico: Atizapán de Zaragoza, Coacalco de Berriozábal, Cuautitlán, Cuautitlán Izcalli, Chalco, Chicoloapan, Chimalhuacán, Ecatepec de Morelos, Huixquilucan, Ixtapaluca, La Paz, Naucalpan de Juárez, Nezahualcóyotl, Nicolás Romero, Tecámac, Tlalnepantla de Baz, Tultitlán and Valle de Chalco.
Ignoring the rule implies fines of 20 to 30 Update Measurement Units (UMA), equivalent to between 2,262 and 3,394 pesos.
Where to pay the fine for Hoy No Circula?
To cover the fine, violators must download and print their ticket from the Ministry of Finance portal and make the corresponding payment. This can be done at authorized banking institutions or at self-service stores. Vehicles will remain held until payment is confirmed.
