How each October 28, thousands of faithful prepare for celebrate the Day of Saint Jude Thaddeus, one of the most popular religious festivities in Mexico City.
This 2025 will not be the exception: since previous days, devotees have begun to arrive at the Church of San Hipólito, epicenter of the commemoration, which has caused various road closures and detours in the central area of the capital.

Road closures for the celebration
The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of CDMX implemented a special operation from Sunday, October 26, 2025, in order to protect pilgrims and maintain order around the temple of San Hipólito and San Casiano, located at Francisco Zarco 12, between Paseo de la Reforma and Avenida Hidalgo.
The streets with total or partial closures due to the flow of people and religious activities are:
- Francisco Zarco
- Paseo de la Reforma
- Hidalgo Avenue
- Balderas Avenue
- Axis 1 West
The outages are expected to remain active until the night of Tuesday the 28th.as the entry and exit of parishioners progresses.

To avoid congestion in the perimeter of San Hipólito, authorities suggest using the following alternative routes:
- Lázaro Cárdenas Central Axis
- Chapultepec Avenue
- Fray Servando Teresa de Mier
- José María Izazaga
- Doctor Río de la Loza
- Interior Circuit
- Insurgentes Avenue
- Axis 1 North

Recommendations for motorists and pilgrims
The SSC issued a series of recommendations to guarantee safety and coexistence between drivers and believers:
- Respect the instructions of traffic officers and road closures.
- Give way to pilgrims and reduce speed when driving near the temple.
- Plan your route in advance and avoid distractions while driving, such as cell phone use.
- If you attend as a parishioner, keep an eye on minors and older adults, and establish a meeting point in case you get separated.
- Protect your personal items such as money, cell phones or jewelry.
Who was Saint Jude Thaddeus?
Saint Jude Thaddeus was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ and is known as the “patron saint of difficult and desperate causes.”. The Catholic Church celebrates its holiday every October 28, although many devotees venerate it on the 28th of each month.
In Mexico City, the Church of Saint Hippolytus and Saint Cassian It has become the main point of devotion, where thousands of believers come to thank for favors or ask for help in difficult times.
