Spanish club Real Madrid announced on Monday that its defender Dani Carvajal, who returned to its ranks after a month-long absence due to a calf injury, will undergo another surgery on his right knee.
Carvajal came on as a substitute for Valverde in the 72nd minute of the Clásico match between Real Madrid and Barcelona (2-1) at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Shortly after the match ended, he felt some discomfort, and after informing the club doctors of this, it was decided to conduct tests on Monday morning, which resulted in a diagnosis of his condition.
A club statement said: “After examinations conducted by the Real Madrid medical team, it was diagnosed that there was a foreign body in the right knee joint of our captain Dani Carvajal.”
The statement added that the 33-year-old right-back, who suffered a very serious injury to the same knee in 2024 (rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and collateral ligament), will undergo arthroscopic surgery.
The Spanish club did not specify the duration of the six-time Champions League winner’s absence, but press reports indicated that he may be absent from competitions for several months.
Yesterday, Sunday, Carvajal was the focus of media attention due to his dispute with Lamine Gamal at the end of El Clásico, and the resulting impact on their relationship within the Spanish national team.
