The violence that the country suffers did not begin with Andrés Manuel López Obrador. In reality, it is a problem that originated during the government of the former president Felipe Calderon, who, to legitimize himself as president after fraudulent elections, decided to launch a supposed “war against drug trafficking” that ended up unleashing a bloodbath.
Between 2006 and 2018, the strategies to combat organized crime were erratic, and the only thing they produced was more violence. After twelve years of war, violence and murder, action was necessary. But any action, whatever it was, was not going to have immediate results.
