The Governor of Damascus Countryside, Amer Al-Sheikh, visited the town of Beit Jinn in the Damascus countryside, which witnessed Israeli bombing and clashes, yesterday morning, Friday, while Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that a cautious calm prevailed in the Syrian town.
The sheikh said that his visit to Beit Jinn confirms that the state, with all its agencies, stands by the people, reassures them, and is informed of their conditions.
Yesterday, Friday, the town of Beit Jinn witnessed Damascus countryside An Israeli bombing killed 13 people, following the occupation forces’ incursion into the town to arrest wanted young men, and the residents confronted them before they withdrew, leaving behind a military vehicle.
The Israeli army said that this attack comes within the framework of the “Bashan Arrow” operation, which it launched after the fall of the regime of ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on December 8, 2024, during which it targeted military sites throughout the country, and also took control of strategic sites, including Mount Hermon, in addition to controlling the buffer zone.
The Israeli army also announced that 6 of its soldiers were injured, including two officers and a soldier, in critical condition, and confirmed the opening of an investigation into the leak of information about the operation.
In response, Najat Rushdi, Deputy Special Envoy of the United Nations to Syria, condemned the Israeli incursion into the vicinity of the Damascus countryside, considering what happened “a gross and unacceptable violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
It called for an immediate cessation of such operations, and full compliance with the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement.
