On the occasion of the arrival of millions of pilgrims to the Basilica of Guadalupethe Government of Mexico City, in coordination with the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC), launches a broad road device before the arrival of parishioners.
Given the arrival and exodus of thousands of pilgrims from different parts of the country and abroad, the SSC announced on November 19 the implementation of a special road traffic device in the vicinity of the Basilica of Guadalupe.

According to the secretary, this operation is intended to speed up mobility and reduce risks for both motorists and visitors, who begin to arrive between the December 6 until the December 15.
This, since the December 12 is the date with higher concentration of visitorsbefore the commemoration of the apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe.
Due to this, the presence of Transit police is contemplated at strategic points, who will be in charge of regular the vehicular flow, perform intermittent cuts and guarantee safe crossings in areas with the highest concentration of people.
Well, as we mentioned, during these days a significant increase in the circulation of pedestrians advancing towards the religious site is expected.

Recommendations for motorists
The SSC issued a series of recommendations for those traveling through the area:
- Respect the instructions of the Traffic Police, especially in accesses and streets near the Basilica.
- Remember that pilgrims have the right of way, both at intersections and on roads, so speed must be reduced.
- Give way and pay attention to the signs, since many groups advance at low speed.
- Check in advance about planned road closures and detours in the vicinity of the temple.

Mobility and prevention
The capital authorities reiterated that the objective of the device is to protect pilgrims, preserve order and avoid congestion, especially during peak hours.
Therefore, citizens are recommended to consider alternative routes and stay informed through the official accounts of the SSC, OVIAL and the Secretary’s Contact Unit.
