The dependence of the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) detailed that the modus operandi of the scammers consists of sending links that direct to pages web fake designed to request sensitive information such as data banking, passwords, numbers of cards banking o information personal and, in some cases, pages may descargar malware or request permissions that compromise the security of electronic devices.
Therefore, the Police Cybernetics of the SSC recommended verifying the authenticity of any promotion before providing personal information, not accessing suspicious links, being wary of overly attractive offers, and reporting fraudulent messages on the platforms.
“The false promotion of gifts christmas represents a significant risk to the security of personal and banking data, which is why citizens are urged to remain vigilant, not interact with suspicious links and always corroborate the authenticity of any promotion before sharing personal or financial information,” he warned.
