President Claudia Sheinbaum presented the Social World Cup, 205 days before the 2026 Soccer World Cup. This includes a series of sports, cultural, gastronomic and social activities aimed at Mexicans and international visitors who will attend the different venues.
Gabriela Cuevas Barrón, coordinator of the Federal Government’s work for the 2026 World Cup, reported that the objective of the Government of Mexico is to bring soccer to the entire national territory through tournaments and even “cascaritas” in communities.
Cuevas affirmed that the Social World Cup promoted by the federal government puts the population at the center of the work towards the World Cup.
Activities in Mexico for the 2026 World Cup
According to what was announced, 177 Mexico 2026 parties will be held and through the application “Get to know Mexico”, you can learn about up to 5 thousand activities that will take place throughout the national territory.

“Our goal is to bring football to the entire national territory, so that the balls roll beyond the fields and become World Cups, tournaments and even ‘cascaritas’ in the communities.. May we live the passion of the stadiums in public squares with the free transmission of the matches so that the game and the ball, which have been part of our history, reach the schoolyards,” he said.
The coordinator indicated that these 205 days are also an opportunity to transform a great event into physical activation and health care and to show our cultural greatness to the entire world, from the museums and archaeological sites to the cuisine that is also recognized by UNESCO.
He pointed out that they also seek to design and implement new strategies to achieve the goal established in Plan Mexico and ensure that our country is among the five most visited. to consolidate a legacy that strengthens the infrastructure and policies of our entire country in the short, medium and long term.

“The Mexico 2026 World Cup calls on all of us, all governments, all Mexicans, and private initiative, and we will continue to share this initiative.”because that is the mandate of our President to build an inclusive celebration that brings football to all the neighborhoods, colonies and towns of Mexico,” he added.
Soccer fields will be restored
Rosa Icela Rodríguez, head of the Ministry of the Interior (Segob), highlighted the combined efforts of the agencies for the organization of the World Cup, as well as the contact of the three levels of government.
He reiterated the rescue of public spaces, the restoration of soccer fields throughout the country and the creation of murals.
“We have set the goal of more than 4 thousand courts and spaces recovered in the different entities, because we know that soccer is a sport that most Mexicans are passionate about (…)”, said the head of Segob.
