Sheinbaum prepares modification to casino law

The President announced that her government is preparing changes to the Casino Law in light of the growth of digital betting. He explained that the aim is not to prohibit them, but rather to regulate them appropriately. He indicated that protections could be filed, but there will be no immediate suspensions.

Sheinbaum talks about those who are against the Amparo Law

The President described as “liars” those who claim that the reform of the Amparo Law violates the retroactivity of rights. He affirmed that the reform strengthens the protection of the people against unfair acts of authority and does not eliminate any constitutional rights.

Sheinbaum rejects limiting access to beaches

Sheinbaum criticized the restrictions imposed in Tulum, which require consumption in restaurants to enter the beaches.

He recalled that access cannot be limited for economic reasons and that the Ministry of Tourism reviews the case together with the government of Quintana Roo.

Sheinbaum announces that he will present the “corruptelas of Fonden”

President Sheinbaum announced that next week evidence of irregularities in the defunct Fonden will be presented, which she described as a “late and corrupt” mechanism. PC reports 70 deaths and 72 not located due to rains

The national coordinator of Civil Protection, Laura Velázquez, reported that the rains have left 70 people dead and 72 unaccounted for in five states. Veracruz, Puebla and Hidalgo concentrate the majority of victims. Querétaro and San Luis Potosí report material damage, but without significant human losses.

Sheinbaum assures that aid to Cuba will not affect relations with the US or the T-MEC

The President ruled out that cooperation with Cuba, which includes sending fuel and hiring doctors, would affect the relationship with the United States or the T-MEC. Sheinbaum advances meeting with soft drink company

Claudia Sheinbaum announced an agreement with the soft drink industry to reduce the sugar content in processed drinks. The agreement, reached after weeks of dialogue, maintains part of the IEPS and seeks to improve public health. The tax on flavored drinks will rise from 1.64 to 3.08 pesos per liter in the 2026 Economic Package.

93% of energy has been restored in the states affected by the rains: CFE

The director of the CFE, Emilia Calleja Alor, reported that 93% of the electricity supply has been restored in the five states affected by the rains. There are still 197 thousand users without service.

To attend to areas that are difficult to access, emergency plants are mobilized, some transported by air with support from Sedena.

The SICT reports a reduction in isolated communities

After the intense rains in Puebla, Querétaro, Hidalgo, San Luis Potosí and Veracruz, the head of the SICT, Jesús Esteva, reported that the number of cut-off communities decreased. There are 108 affected municipalities and 160 towns still without connection.

President Claudia Sheinbaum highlighted that more than a thousand machines and 47 helicopters are working on the reopening of roads and air support.
