Mexico advances along the path of honesty, peace, democracy and justice. Long live the Mexican Revolution!”, exhorting to maintain national dignity. He also indicated that a people that knows its history will not return to periods of injusticerejecting speeches of violence or imposition.
Sheinbaum stated that “There are no longer impositions or privileges, there is a Constitution, there is democracy and there is a government that listens, respects and responds to its people, today freedoms are not only granted from above, they are exercised from below, from each neighborhood, each community, from each voice that speaks with dignity, because in Mexico no one is silenced anymore, no one is persecuted for thinking differently and that is an achievement of the people of Mexico”, emphasizing the expansion of citizen freedoms.
Anniversary of the Revolution and the current political context
President Sheinbaum Pardo evoked the struggles of Francisco I. Madero and the Flores Magón brothers against the regime of Porfirio Díaz, marked by exploitation, racism and the suppression of freedoms. Likewise, he urged us to remember the neoliberal period.
The President pointed out: “Those who today claim a strong hand, force above the law, those who claim the extreme right or that freedom that only the privileged enjoy, do not know the history of Mexico or our people. The Porfiriato of then is the same one they want to call now: that of dispossession, that of silent extermination, that of slavery, that of a silent press, that of an imposed peace. Nor should we forget the period prior to that of the Current Transformation: 36 years of regressions, poverty, inequality, corruption and privileges; the neoliberal period”, underlining the importance of historical memory to avoid repeating mistakes.
He pointed out that the transformations of Mexico (Independence, Reform, Revolution) were armed, while the Fourth Transformation, begun in 2018is peaceful and seeks to vindicate justice, freedom, democracy and shared prosperity.
