After a bilateral meeting was held this Friday, November 7, between the President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and the president of France, Emmanuel Macronboth leaders reached cooperation agreements to strengthen the economic, cultural and scientific relationship between Mexico and France, which include collaboration on environmental matters, women’s rights and academic mobility. This was announced in view of the bicentennial of diplomatic relations to be celebrated next year.
In a joint press conference in the Treasury Room of the National Palace, after having had a meeting, both They coincided in a new stage in the bilateral relationship, within the framework of 200 years of diplomatic relations.
The French president, Emmanuel Macron, highlighted the important investment of French companies in Mexico, especially in the aeronautical, energy, railway, health, innovation and circular economy sectors, all of them considered priorities within the Mexico Plan.
The Franco-Mexican Strategic Council for Economic Development is also strengthened to expand investments, trade and economic complementarity, including in new areas of technological development and innovation, among others.
“France loves Mexico. Next year we will celebrate two centuries of diplomatic relations forged by mutual admiration and friendship. Today we open a new strategic chapter based on respect, multilateralism and the sovereignty of States,” said Macron.
The French president highlighted that French companies are the first foreign employer in the aeronautical sector in Mexico, and stressed the intention to continue investing and generating jobs.

Furthermore, he announced that Economic exchanges between both nations will reach 6.8 billion euros, with the goal of further consolidating the bilateral relationship.
Macron reported that, together with President Claudia Sheinbaum, he met with businessmen from both countries within the framework of the Franco-Mexican Strategic Council, a body that has contributed to bringing the two economies closer together and will serve as a platform to increase commercial exchanges and give greater visibility to investors.
“Their presence in our land is a symbol of mutual respect, dialogue between cultures and the deep friendship that unites our people and nations,” said the federal president.
He pointed out that Next year the trade agreement with Europe will be renewed, “which will provide a lot of opportunity for economic cooperation.”
Azcatitlan Codex will be exhibited in Mexico in 2026
In cultural matters, the French president announced that The Azcatitlan Codex, kept in the National Library of France, will be exhibited in Mexico in 2026 as part of a series of cross-exhibitions between both countries to celebrate the bicentennial.
The acceptance of reciprocal and simultaneous temporary transfers was highlighted so that the Azcatitlan codex could be exhibited in Mexico, and that the Boturini codex be exhibited in France.
Previously, in the Ambassadors Room, Sheinbaum and Macron led a meeting with businessmen from both countries to strengthen commercial relations; In addition, the respective delegations spoke to strengthen collaboration on matters of common interest.
“Mexico generates confidence due to its great potential to attract investments,” highlighted the Federal Government.
In addition, they reported, a large Franco-Mexican cultural festival is being prepared that will take place in the fall of 2026, with events dedicated to exalting the friendship between both nations and the artistic talent of their people.
“Culture is at the center of our strategic alliance. We want to build a more robust, lasting and resilient cooperation with Mexico,” said Macron.
Macron also thanked Sheinbaum for the reception and for the agreements signed during the visit, which, he said, strengthen the scientific and technical alliance between both countries, with the participation of the main French and Mexican research institutions.
