MEXICO CITY.– With exemption from procedures and the endorsement of Morena and allies, the Senate of the Republic generally approved the minutes of the new General Water Law and the National Water Law in the middle of a verbal duel between the 4T block and the opposition, which even claimed that there were hundreds of dissatisfied producers outside the premises, without this being true.
The minutes were approved with 85 votes in favor and 36 against and the discussion of 23 reservations began.
OPPOSITION VS MORENA
In the discussion, the opposition made up of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), the National Action Party (PAN) and the Citizen Movement (MC), launched against the ruling party for accelerating the approval of this law.
And the coordinator of National Action, Ricardo Anaya, maintained that Morena “is lying because it only pretends to have control of the water to concentrate more power and assured that farmers who want to sell their plot will no longer be able to do so with the concession of the vital liquid.
Meanwhile, Adán Augusto López Hernández responded that he is the one who is lying, because in article 49 of the General Water Law It is clearly established that upon selling the plot the new owner will retain the rights over the exploitation, use and exploitation of the corresponding liquid.
“The water authority, once the change of ownership has been made, will issue a new concession title in accordance with the characteristics of use and volume of the original title and for the remaining term of its validity,” he stressed.
It is worth mentioning that the majority of opposition legislators maintained that the demands of agricultural producers were not taken into account, but Morena highlighted that this law is precisely beneficial for the people of Mexico.
