But shortly before the sales launch, the Geekbench 6 results of the device were leaked, which were disappointing. Samsung is about to launch its latest foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, in South Korea. But the recently leaked Geekbench 6 results cast a shadow over the upcoming debut. With a single-core score of 2853 and a multi-core score of 8501, the device falls well short of the official performance values of its Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC.
The decision to use an older chip in a new device was justified by a Samsung executive as a desire for a “perfect and highly finished” product. However, this explanation is met with skepticism, with many suspecting that cost savings are the real reason. The Snapdragon 8 Elite, which powers the Galaxy Z TriFold, underperforms in the benchmarks by 9.6 percent in the single-core and 12.6 percent in the multi-core range compared to the official SoC values.
The Galaxy Z TriFold offers impressive specs, including a 10-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED interior display with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,584 and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. There is also a 6.5-inch FHD+ display with a resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 and a brightness of 2,600 nits. Both displays support variable refresh rates between 1 and 120 Hz.
With 16 GB of RAM and a 5,600 mAh battery that supports 45W wired charging, the device offers solid features. The camera equipment includes a 200 MP main camera, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 10 MP telephoto lens as well as a 10 MP selfie camera on both displays. Despite these impressive specifications, the question remains whether the device’s performance justifies the high price tag of around $2,447 set for the South Korean market.
