The Renault Espace F1, an iconic vehicle that caused a stir in the 1990s, returns to the Gran Turismo series after 25 years. This extraordinary car, originally developed by Matra to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Espace, is known for its built-in Formula 1 engine. The Espace F1 was equipped with an 800 hp V10 engine sourced from a Williams FW15C, housed in a bespoke carbon fiber chassis.
The return of the Espace F1 in Gran Turismo 7 was announced during the GT World Series in Los Angeles. In a short teaser video showing the new Yas Marina Circuit, the Espace F1 could be seen for a few seconds. This announcement has caused great excitement among fans of the series, as the vehicle was last seen in Gran Turismo 2 in 1999.
In addition to the Espace F1, Gran Turismo 7’s Spec III update will also see the introduction of the Polestar brand to the series. Polestar, originally founded as a racing team and later established as an independent electric vehicle company, will be represented with the Polestar 5. This new model, recently announced, will be available in Dual Motor Performance version with 871 HP and will be part of a special in-game time trial event.
The Spec III update includes a total of eight new vehicles, including the Ferrari 296 GT3, the R34 Mine’s Skyline GT-R and the Mitsubishi FTO GP Version R Aero. However, two vehicles still remain secret, which further fuels the tension among players. It is speculated that one of these vehicles could be the FIAT Panda, which was featured in a studio tour video by Polyphony Digital.
