The Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) reinforced its surveillance actions in various branches of the Gameplanet video game chain, with the aim of guaranteeing compliance with consumer rights.
Between October 13 and 21, staff of the Deputy Attorney General’s Office of Telecommunications visited several stores in Mexico City to verify that the five fundamental supervision points established by Profeco were met. The first visit, carried out on October 13 at the branch Metropolis Patriotismshowed non-compliance, which led to additional visits to other branches.
On October 14, the store was inspected. University Squareand on the 15th, the branches Insurgentes Galleries, Forum Buenavista y Perisur Shopping Center. The visit on the 16th included Plaza Oasis Coyoacán, Delta Park y Pink Zoneand on the 21st more establishments were added.
During these reviews, irregularities were detected such as the failure to display the adhesion contract registered with Profeco, the absence of the letter of minimum user rights and the omission of proof of delivery of these documents. In addition, at the Plaza Universidad branch, no prices or rates were displayed. The Plaza Oasis Coyoacán and Parque Delta branches correctly accredited the five points reviewed, while the Zona Rosa store presented partial deficiencies.
In establishments where non-compliance was identified, suspension seals were placed as a precautionary measure. It should be noted that, since October 16, Gameplanet had implemented improvements such as QR codes, updating its web portal and document organization in its branches.
Likewise, the Deputy Attorney General’s Office made an additional visit to the branch Tezontle Parkverifying that it complied with all the verification points. Since the beginning of these visits, Profeco has received documentation presented by the supplier, which is being analyzed to determine the possible removal of the suspension seals.
