The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) reported that, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Government of Peru confirmed that will respect the immunities of Mexico in that countryincluding the inviolability of its real estate in Limawithin which is the official residence, as well as its assets and files.
This, in accordance with the Vienna conventions on Diplomatic Relations and on Consular Relations of 1961 and 1963, respectively.

For its part and in accordance with the Convention on Diplomatic Asylum of 1954 (Caracas Convention), Mexico reiterated its request by one pass in favor of the former Peruvian prime minister, Betsy Betzabet Chávez Chinowho enjoys the political asylum status in the Mexican Embassyso that it can be transferred to our country.
Betssy Chávez is accused of having participated in the attempted coup d’état by former president Pedro Castilloin December 2022.
Arrest warrant issued against Betssy Chávez
It should be noted that the statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) occurs several hours after the Judicial Branch of Peru issued a international arrest warrant against the former prime minister. Likewise, they dictated five months of preventive detention.
“It is resolved to dictate preventive detention for a period of five months against the accused Betssy Chavez Chino and the jobs of location and capture at national and international level regarding the accused,” indicated the Judiciary.
He Judge Juan Carlos Checkley argued in the resolution that the danger of flight is “palpable”as well as the risk of “frustration” of the oral trial.
