The NSpire Startup Slam Pitch Competition, a landmark event for entrepreneurs on the Northshore, will return in 2026. Organized by STartUP Northshore, this event has become one of the most anticipated events for startups in the Gulf South since its launch in 2023. With the support of Chevron as the primary sponsor and Capital One as the grand prize sponsor, the event will be held at the historic Columbia Theater in Downtown Hammond.
Since its inception, the NSpire Startup Slam Pitch Competition has awarded over $170,000 in cash and in-kind prizes to local entrepreneurs. This has not only supported growth and job creation, but also attracted new investment into the Northshore’s innovation ecosystem. For entrepreneurs, the event offers a unique opportunity to secure funding, meet investors and receive high-quality services to promote business growth.
Alana Scott, founder and CEO of Kinkz, the winner of the first edition in 2023, describes the experience as inspiring and emphasizes the importance of the resources she received through the competition. The event provides a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase their groundbreaking ideas, network with industry leaders and compete for one of the largest startup prize packages in the Gulf South.
The conditions for participation in the competition are clearly defined: companies must be based in the Northshore region or be willing to move there and actively participate in the STartUP Northshore entrepreneurial ecosystem. The application deadline is November 16, 2025 and all interested companies are encouraged to apply. Admission is free to the public and the event promises an evening of innovation and networking.
