Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, presented the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice that has four axles: attention to the causes, consolidation of the National Guard, strengthening of intelligence and investigation and coordination between the three levels of government.

In the Consolidation of the National Guard, they will work on strengthening the state police of Michoacán, known as the Civil Guard and the State Attorney General’s Office, with equipment, training and joint actions of direct operation, under the supervision of the Government of Mexico, with this, each element can serve the Michoacan people with honor and effectiveness.
As part of strengthening intelligence and investigation, they will deploy technological resources and specialized units to combat extortion and stop those responsible for violence.
Meanwhile, they will reinforce the High Impact Specialized Prosecutor’s Office of the State Prosecutor’s Office through the exchange of information with the Security Cabinet and the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic.

In addition, the state of the Defense force, Navy, National Guard and the Secretariat of Security will be increased, in permanent coordination with state and municipal authorities.
Harfuch highlighted that Michoacán was the starting point of the National Strategy against Extortion. Since July 6, 180 people have been arrested in the state for this crime.

He reiterated additional measures to strengthen this strategy will include: a
approved service protocol, sub-headquarters from the Anti-Extortion Unit to expedite complaints, additional specialized units in coordination with the Secretariat of National Defense, Secretariat of the Navy and Attorney General’s Office of the Republic, advanced training for 089 operators and there will be operators specifically in this line assigned to Michoacán.
“On instructions from President Claudia Sheinbaum, in the coming days the Security Cabinet will visit different municipalities in the State of Michoacán, also at the request of the municipal president of Uruapan, Grecia Quiroz, we will visit Uruapan this week,” he added.
The visits will also serve to meet with local authorities and different sectors, and to permanently evaluate and supervise the Security Strategy.
Likewise, the Security Cabinet will hold permanent meetings with agricultural producers of lemon, avocado and other crops with the purpose of guaranteeing their security, protecting their economic activities and strengthening trust in the institutions.
“These meetings will allow us to directly address their concerns, coordinate preventive measures and reinforce the presence of the authorities in productive areas,” he said.
