Nezahualcóyotl, State of Mexico, November 1, 2025.– Nezahualcoyotl had the honor of receiving Dr. Abhinaw Raj, director of the Gurudev Tagore Cultural Center of the Indian Embassy in Mexicowho offered the presentation “The vision of death in India and Mexico, similarities and differences”, as part of the activities of the Expo Day of the Dead 2025, reported municipal president Adolfo Cerqueda Rebollo.
During his presentation, Dr. Raj addressed the spiritual, philosophical and cultural links that unite both nations, highlighting that in both India and Mexico death is not perceived as an end, but as a process of transformation. He stressed that in both traditions there is a deep respect for the ancestors and a ritual sense that celebrates the continuity of life beyond earthly existence.
Cerqueda Rebollo pointed out that this type of exchanges strengthen the multicultural vision of Nezahualcóyotl and promote respect and understanding between peoples. He emphasized that the Day of the Dead Expo It seeks to be a meeting point between different artistic and spiritual expressions that exalt the value of life, memory and identity.
As part of the day, a demonstration of traditional Indian dance was presented, in which guest artists showed the symbolic, aesthetic and musical richness of the Asian country. The public enjoyed a unique experience that fused the spirituality of Indian tradition with the color and emotionality of Mexican Day of the Dead.
Municipal authorities and representatives of the Indian Embassy agreed that these types of events reinforce the ties of friendship and cultural cooperation between Mexico and India, consolidating Nezahualcóyotl as a space for meeting and dialogue between cultures.
Likewise, the municipal government reported that the Expo Día de Muertos 2025 will have an extensive artistic program that includes exhibitions, workshops, gastronomic samples and musical presentations, with the aim of preserving and disseminating Mexican traditions, in addition to opening spaces for exchange with other nations.
Attendees recognized the efforts of local authorities to promote activities that transcend entertainment, by promoting intercultural learning and strengthening the social fabric. With these initiatives, the municipal government promotes art, reflection and respect for the various ways of understanding life and death.
