The University of Memphis recently opened a new lounge for its students that serves as a social meeting place and place to relax. This initiative was launched by the Student Government Association to fulfill students’ desire for a space for exchange and relaxation. The opening took place at the UC Tech Hub and attracted over 75 students who were welcomed with refreshments and university memorabilia.

Kelcie Branham, a second-year marketing student, sees the lounge as a welcome break from her hectic schedule. For other students, like freshman Manny Wheeler, the lounge offers the chance to make new friends. Wheeler, a native of Waverly, Tennessee, sees the lounge as a way to meet people with similar interests, especially those who are into anime and video games.
