TAP will transfer flights in Luanda to the new Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN) from December 1st, a source from the national airline announced.

According to the announced plan, on December 1st the Lisbon-Luanda connection will already have AIAAN as its destination, while the first Luanda-Lisbon flight will leave on that day from 4 de Fevereiro Airport.

On December 2nd, it will be the turn of the flight from Luanda to Lisbon to leave from the new airport.

This move follows other operators that have already transferred flights to AIAAN, such as the Angolan carrier TAAG and Emirates.

AIAAN was officially opened on November 10, 2023 by President João Lourenço and has a capacity for 15 million passengers per year and 130,000 tons of cargo, approximately 40 kilometers from the Angolan capital.

The entry into operation of commercial flights began gradually, starting with domestic connections, with Cabinda as the first destination.

The capital’s hitherto main airport, 4 de Fevereiro Airport, is expected to be progressively left to specialized services as international operators transfer their flights to AIAAN.
