LONDON (IT BOLTWISE) – Apple has introduced a new update with iOS 26.2 that makes the lock screen even more customizable. Users can now set the transparency of the time individually. The update also brings new features for the podcast app and a revised rating scale for the sleep index.

Apple has once again demonstrated its innovative strength with the introduction of iOS 26.2. The update brings a variety of new features and customizations that give users more control and personalization options. Particularly noteworthy is the expansion of the Liquid Glass design language, which allows users to individually adjust the transparency of the time display on the lock screen. A new slider allows the transparency to be adjusted from almost invisible to completely opaque, giving users unprecedented flexibility.
Another highlight of the update is the integration of an alarm function into the reminders app. This feature, long requested by many users, makes it possible to create urgent alerts that play even when the device is muted or a focus is activated. These alarms are colored blue to distinguish them from other alarms such as timers or alarm clocks, and can be stopped with a swipe or paused with a snooze as usual.
Apple’s Podcast app is also getting significant improvements. With iOS 26.2, chapters are now automatically created, making it easier for users to jump to specific points in an episode. In addition, references to other podcasts are displayed directly in the player and in the transcript, making it easier to discover new content. Links that are mentioned in a podcast episode are now also displayed automatically so that users can access them directly.
The sleep index, introduced with iOS 26, is also getting a makeover. The rating scale has been adjusted to better match human perception. Categories now range from ‘Very Low’ to ‘Very High’, with the highest rating renamed from ‘Excellent’ to ‘Very High’. These adjustments are intended to give users a more precise assessment of their sleep quality.
In addition to these main functions, there are other innovations, such as the ability to manage websites in the Passwords app for which passwords should not be saved. A new table function is available in the Freeform app, and the entire screen can now flash during alarms. The News app offers quick access to categories such as ‘Sports’, ‘Politics’ and ‘Food’.
iOS 26.2 is currently in its first beta for developers, and the public test is expected soon. The update is expected to be released in December and is compatible with all iPhones that also support iOS 26.
