He National Front for the Family expressed his rejection of the way in which the National Council to Prevent Discrimination (Conapred) addressed the issue of Trans Childhood and Adolescence through a glossary that was shared among teachers of the Ministry of Public Education to disseminate it in the country’s schools.
During the second ordinary session of the School Technical Council (CTE) on October 31, the document was released that seeks to “raise awareness in the educational community regarding the importance of recognizing the sexual and gender diversity present in schools” and “reflect on the processes of construction of gender identity and sexual orientations in childhood and adolescence.”
This document analyzes the “Glossary of sexual, gender and sexual characteristics diversity”, prepared by the Conapred. In addition, the video “Trans and non-binary childhoods and adolescences” was broadcast, available in the Teachers’ Room of the SEP, and the testimony “Trans childhoods” from the Diálogos en Confianza program was heard.
The document invites teaching groups to incorporate these contents into the Analytical Program and in the Continuous Improvement Process of each school, with the purpose of adapting pedagogical practice to the so-called “sex-gender diversity.”
In this regard, Rodrigo Iván Cortés, president of the National Front for the Familywarned that the material prepared and officially distributed by the SEPand which will be delivered to teachers, imposes an ideological vision of sexuality children’swhen using terms such as “diversity of gender expression”, “transgender childhood” or “body self-knowledge”.
Furthermore, he considered that “no distinction is established by age nor are there any pedagogical or ethical limits for teachers, disguising the recognition of trans childhoods as an educational act.”
He pointed out that the term “trans and inclusive” is presented as part of the New Mexican School, “but unfortunately it completely ignores the voice of the parents of minors, as well as the social context of the schools and the biological and emotional training according to the age and maturity of the minors.”
Strategy of the National Front for the Family
In this way, the National Front for the Family proposed to co-design with the parents’ committee protocols for respectful treatment, use of names/pronouns and uniforms.
Conduct workshops for families on respectful language, prevention of
bullying, handling disagreements at home; create conversation cards by age and simple glossaries; and suggestions on how to answer your children’s questions.
In addition to doing pilot groups for joint evaluation and adjustment before expanding to the entire school and focusing on messages on safety, violence prevention and school climate, not on indoctrination.
