The Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Juan Ramón de la Fuente, held a meeting this Wednesday with the United States Secretary of StateMarco Rubio, in Washington, D.C.as part of the follow-up to the bilateral dialogue initiated during the recent visit of the US official to Mexico.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to maintain a respectful and constructive dialogue, focused on the issues of security and border cooperation.

During the meeting, The headlines reviewed the progress of the Border Security and Law Enforcement Cooperation Programpromoted last month by both governments. This mechanism seeks to strengthen joint actions in security matters under principles of respect for sovereignty, shared responsibility, mutual trust and coordinated collaboration, without implying subordination between the parties.

De la Fuente was accompanied by the undersecretary for North America, Roberto Velasco Alvarezand the Mexican ambassador to the United States, Esteban Moctezuma Barragán.
