The Police Professionals Union Association (ASPP/PSP) decided this Friday, November 29, to abandon negotiations with the Government, taking into account that the proposal presented is insufficient, and admitted to moving forward with protests.
“ASPP abandons negotiations because the proposal presented does not meet what we would expect in relation to remuneration tables, supplements and evaluation ordinance”the president of ASPP, Paulo Santos, told Lusa at the end of a meeting with the Minister of Internal Administration.
The president of the largest PSP union, who accused the Government of not “fully complying with the agreement signed” in July 2024, said that next week the ASPP will meet with the union’s leadership to decide protest actions.
The Minister of Internal Administration presented this Friday to the PSP unions the initial negotiation proposal, which includes changes to paid services to be discussed immediately, having also made it known that the special service supplement, intended for police officers working in criminal investigation and in the Special Police Unit, will be increased by 2.15% in January 2026.
According to the unions, an increase that translates into between three and seven euros per month, depending on the functions.
Paulo Santos stated that he asked Minister Maria Lúcia Amaral to give “full compliance with the July 2024 agreement” and to apply the measures provided for in that document with retractive effects to January 2026.
“Taking into account that the minister did not present this, ASPP was not in a position to continue the negotiations and we ended our presence in this process. We are no longer going to any more meetings”, he highlighted.
The ASPP president added that the minister scheduled a meeting for December 12th to receive the unions’ responses regarding paid services, but they will no longer be present.
