During her visit to the Isthmus, the president Claudia Sheinbaum announced that the Interoceanic Train will reach Ciudad Hidalgo, in the border with Guatemalaas part of the expansion of the K line that advances in Chiapas.
The pronouncement occurred in Juchitán, where the representative highlighted that the railway connectionenabled between Tonalá and Ciudad Ixtepec, will continue its development towards the south to link directly with Guatemalan territory.

He pointed out that this extension will allow the consolidation of a strategic corridor between Mexico and Central America.
The project contemplates the total rehabilitation of the road up to the international limitas well as the operational integration with the section already modernized between Oaxaca and Chiapas.
The K line currently operates with stations in Ixtepec City, El Espinal, Juchitán, Unión Hidalgo, Reforma de Pineda and Chahuitesin Oaxaca; in addition to Arriaga and Tonaláin Chiapas.
According to the technical report, the modernization includes drainage works, bridge reconstruction and the complete intervention of the railway.
The expansion towards Ciudad Hidalgo will be incorporated into the connectivity scheme that links the ports of Salina Cruz, Coatzacoalcos, Dos Bocas and Puerto Chiapasas well as the development poles installed along the Interoceanic Railway.

The president highlighted that From tomorrow the passenger train will be available for those traveling between Chiapas and Oaxacawith scheduled departures towards Tonalá, Salina Cruz and Coatzacoalcos.
