US President Donald Trump says in the Knesset that this “is not just the end of a war, it is the end of an era of terror and death” and “the historic dawn of a new Middle East”.

Trump speaks of a “day of profound joy”, remembering that “after so many years of incessant war and endless dangers, today the skies are calm, the guns are silent and the sirens are still.”

“The sacred land is finally at peace” and that, “God willing, it will be peace for all eternity”, he said.

“It is the beginning of great concord and lasting harmony for Israel and for all the nations of what will soon be a truly magnificent region.”

The president receives several standing ovations, saying it is a “great honor” to be able to speak at the Knesset on this occasion.

At one point, when the American president was praising his special envoy in the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, the speech was interrupted, for seconds, by a far-left deputy shouting, and that person was removed from the room. Deputies began chanting “Trump, Trump.”
