Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has recorded considerable growth despite global trade disputes, particularly US protectionist measures. The company’s sales, which employ around 7,200 people, rose by 12.5 percent to around 1.3 billion euros by the end of September. This shows that demand for port logistics services remains strong, even as international trade relations are strained.

A key driver of this growth was container handling, which contributed significantly to the increase in sales. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) increased by 25.7 percent to 117.1 million euros. After deducting the shares of other shareholders, such as the shipping company Hapag-Lloyd, 34.9 million euros remained. These figures illustrate HHLA’s resilience in a challenging market environment.

However, economic uncertainty remains, which led HHLA to lower its profit forecast. Originally, EBIT was expected to be between 195 and 215 million euros, but the forecast was adjusted to 160 to 175 million euros. This adjustment reflects the challenges the company faces due to global trade tensions and US protectionist policies.

The new CEO Jeroen Eijsink, who took over the leadership in October, emphasized that HHLA would stick to its course and continue to push forward its projects despite the uncertain economic situation. The company’s shares remained stable at 21.00 euros on the XETRA trading platform, which underlines investors’ confidence in HHLA’s long-term strategy.
