The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said in a statement that the fate of the armed militia leader, Yasser Abu Shabab, “an agent cooperating with the occupation, is the inevitable fate of the one who betrayed his people and his homeland, and agreed to be a tool in the hands of Israel.”

The movement added in a statement that Abu Shabab committed criminal acts with his gang, which represented a blatant departure from the national and social ranks.

Hamas appreciated the position of the families, tribes and clans that it said disavowed Abu Shabab and everyone involved in attacking his people or cooperating with the occupation, and lifted the tribal and social cover on this isolated group.

Hamas stressed that the occupation, which was unable to protect its agents, would not be able to protect any of its agents. She explained that the unity of the Palestinian people, with their families, tribes, clans and national institutions, will remain a safety valve in the face of all attempts to sabotage their internal fabric.

Yesterday, Wednesday, Israeli occupation army radio announced the assassination of Abu Shabab, east of Rafah in the Gaza Strip, by unknown assailants. Mystery still surrounds the circumstances of his killing, as the news leaked to the Israeli press conflicted regarding how he was killed and the location of his killing.

Yasser Abu Shabab is a Palestinian, born in 1990 in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip. He belongs to the Tarabin tribe. He was detained before October 7, 2023 on criminal charges, and was released after Israel bombed the headquarters of the security services.

His name emerged after the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, targeted a force of “Musta’arabim” east of Rafah, on May 30, 2025. It was found that it had a group of agents recruited for the occupation and directly affiliated with what the resistance described as the “Yasser Abu Shabab gang.”
