From the majestic Campoamor Theater in Oviedo, Spain, the delivery of the Princess of Asturias Awards 2025in a ceremony that stood out for the presence of talent and mexican culture.

This October 24, the 2025 Princess of Asturias Awards Ceremony was held. at the Campoamor Theater in Oviedo. Among this year’s winners, the photographer stood out Graciela Iturbide and the National Museum of Anthropology and History (MNA) of Mexico City for his outstanding contribution to art and the preservation of cultural heritage.

International recognition of Mexican art and culture

During the gala, the Princess of Asturias Foundation celebrated its 45th edition of the awards, which each year are awarded to those people and/or institutions that contribute with their work and merits in the scientific, technical, cultural, social and humanitarian areas to progress and social well-being.

On this occasion, photographer Graciela Iturbide, one of the most representative figures in Latin American photography, was distinguished in the Arts 2025 category, recognizing her career spanning more than five decades and contribution to this discipline.

During the presentation of her award, she said that she considered herself a “citizen of the world” like photography, an art to which she has dedicated her life and that, “fortunately, knows no borders.” […] “He does not have a passport, nor does he need visas, even though some powerful people try to limit free transit between countries and restrict the freedom to think and create.”

On the other hand, also the director of the National Museum of Anthropology and History (MNA)- one of the most important cultural venues in Latin America-, Antonio Saboritwho was accompanied by the president of the board, Madeleine Bremond, got the Concord Award.

The above, for its recognized work in the preservation, research and dissemination of cultural heritage.

Among this year's winners, the photographer Graciela Iturbide and the National Museum of Anthropology and History stood out.

Mexico, protagonist in a ceremony of global reach

The ceremony was attended by the kings of Spain, Felipe VI y JoyPrincess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, who presented the awards to the winners. The 2025 edition of the Princess of Asturias Awards reaffirms the relevance of Mexico in the international cultural panorama, by recognizing both individual artistic creation and institutional value in the protection of historical heritage.
